Organizers Elated, Humbled as Thousands Attend San Francisco, January 23, 2021- Despite concerns about both the Covid pandemic and political unrest, San Francisco pro-lifers held the 17th Annual Walk for Life West Coast today.
The Ursuline Sisters, who have served in Santa Rosa for more than 130 years, are announcing the sale of their property at 400 Angela Drive in Santa Rosa, California to the Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa.
The Agape Program through Kolbe Academy and Trinity Prep and in conjunction with many of our neighbors continues to provide grocery and food help to our community. Agape was born from the need caused by the COVID-19 restrictions and the exacerbated need caused by two disastrous fires.
In the name of the Church, I want, first of all to express my sincere sorrow that so many have been subjected to the evil actions of priests and bishops. Thus, I apologize again, especially for any who have been subjected to injury at the hands of the clergy named below. While the Church has taken some very significant actions over the past twenty years, those actions are significant in terms of the present and future protection of children. However, they do not touch the very real trauma which the evil actions of deacons, priests and bishops have caused in the lives of thousands of young people in our nation.
It has long been recognized that the ability to give thanks is the mark of the truly religious person. Without the sense of thanksgiving, we fail to have openness to God, to others, to our own personal histories, and to the goodness of life itself.

Father David Shaw, a priest of the Diocese of Santa Rosa entered into eternal life on Monday, October 12 after a battle with cancer of the esophagus. Father Shaw was 77 years of age and had served as a priest for 52 years.

Laura Held, President of Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa since 2014 will no longer represent the High School. During her six years at Newman, Laura Held has faced enormous challenges including most notably the partial destruction of the School in 2017 in the Tubbs Fire and this year the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bishop and the Board are grateful to Ms. Held for her leadership in these times of crisis.
One of the concerns that I have is the amount of time children will be spending online with distance learning. Our schools have good plans in place that include an awareness of screen time limits and necessary breaks from the computer. That isn’t what I am worried about.
