“If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world on fire!” ~ St. Catherine of Siena
A. A baptized Catholic who is not fully initied needs to receive Confirmation and/or Holy Communion. The following notes should be kept in mind:
Note 1. Their marital status (including marital status of the spouse) needs to be determined and, if there is a nullty case, it needs to be submitted to the Tribunal.
Note 2. They are not OCIA candidates.
Note 3. Confirmation and/or First Holy Communion should be entered in parish Confirmation register. The parish is to inform the church of baptism of the Confirmation of the person.
Note 4. Choices of where the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion received are (a) at the Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday, (b) from the Bishop when he comes for Confirmation at the parish, or (c) provided the priest receives delegation from the Bishop, at the parish on Pentecost Sunday or some other Sunday but NOT on the Easter Vigil.
B. Adult Confirmation Coordinators may assist their pastors in completing the Diocesan "Adult Confirmation In-Take Form (Form 300)." The completed form should be returned to the Office of the Judicial Vicar in a timely manner. Please allow sufficient time to complete the process.
C. The parish should provide suitable catechesis so that a baptized adult Catholic can complete the Sacraments of Initiation. The parish Adult Confirmation Coordinator should provide formation in the following 4 pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in the formation:
1. Profession of Faith (Creed)
2. Seven Sacraments (including the Rite of Confirmation)
3. Moral Life in Christ (including the 10 Commandments)
4. Christian Prayer (especially the Lord's Prayer)
D. The parish should provide opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, if not yet received, at least one time before the Sacrament of Confirmation is administered.
E. Parishes are encouraged to provide a retreat for adults preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
F. The parish should provide First Penance, if not yet received, at least one time before the Sacrament of Confirmation.
